Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.

You’re listening to Episode 102 and today’s verse is Obadiah 1:12

You should not gloat over your brother
in the day of his misfortune,
nor rejoice over the people of Judah
in the day of their destruction,
nor boast so much
in the day of their trouble.

Let’s pray together.

God, I can’t stress enough how much this verse hits home. It’s important because it matters for our every day lives and for the interactions we have with the people both close to us and not. But it matters so much because of the wounds suffered by Your chosen people.

Oh, God, save Israel. Reach out to Your people and remind them that they are Yours. Remind the whole world. Help us to know that these sheep belong to You and You will never allow anyone to pour out destruction on them without severe punishment in return. Remind everyone that they are not abandoned. You opened the gift of Your Son to the whole world, but Israel is still Your chosen people and You have a plan for them. Let us not cry out against those whom You have set apart.

Protect them from hatred, from slander and libel, from misunderstanding and deception, from cruel, vindictive lies, from abuse and torment, from danger and violence, from division and destruction. Let every man, woman, and child be hidden in the shelter of Your arms. Please provide peace and cease conflict and war. Oh, Jesus, I know how much You love them. Please, please help them to see it.

Please let truth and compassion and help be what the rest of the world shows to them. They have endured more than any people should, but it is because You have brought them through. And when they are persecuted You institute a new feast day. Let this be so even now. Let this be the time when they recognize their Messiah and when the world is their shieldwall, not their persecutor. Help us to stand up for them and to fight for them and to discern carefully the truth.

Jesus, I pray peace. I pray comfort. I pray restoration. I pray protection. I pray support. I pray grace. I pray courage. I pray wisdom. I pray for families. I pray for warriors. I pray for the vulnerable and the isolated and the wounded. Oh, Jesus save.

May I take these verses to heart and may I want the better for those around me and to weep with the mournful, not scorn or delight in their trouble or be indifferent to the sorrows I see, even at a distance.

I pray this in the name of Yahweh, our Lord Jehovah. Amen.

That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.

And let’s get to know each other better. Follow me over on Instagram at thejulihernandez where you can DM me prayer requests or suggestions on verses you’d like me to pray on the podcast or just let me know what’s going on in your life.
