Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.

You’re listening to Episode 106 and today’s verse is Habakkuk 3:2

Lord, I have heard of Your fame;
    I stand in awe of Your deeds, Lord.
Repeat them in our day,
    in our time make them known;
    in wrath remember mercy.

Let’s pray together.

God, it is useless to hide anything from You. We are pitifully transparent beings, created by You, broken before You, and only redeemed in You. So there is no way for us to be able to get away with anything. I cannot attempt such a thing without seeming foolish. But I do attempt it over and over again. I think that because You are so great and I am so small that You will not see. Just like a baby playing peek-a-boo, since I cannot see You, You cannot see me. Or it seems like You won’t care because I don’t have Your tangible presence. I think it makes me in charge. I think You’re not taking care of things. So I attempt to be the one in control.

But, God, the Word is full of Your wonders. Creation tells of Your intricacy. Even my own body is proof of the vast complexities You know that I can never know. And so You are the great one. You are mighty. You are capable. You are awesome and full of a rich, ageless history I will never understand. When I read of Your deeds, it’s easy to think they are just stories or I get used to such oft-heard tales. But these are miracles. These are things no one will ever be able to duplicate. You are the God who raises the dead, defeats entire armies, gives animals voices, and calms the wind and the storm. You raise mountains and curse fig trees, You multiple food and heal impossible things. You create life and You forgive sins. What an incredible God You are. Immutable, timeless, omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent. I praise You.

Please show Your wonder. Show Your fame. What You have done in the past and for others, do now for me. Do now for our world. And let them be things that will give glory to Your name and draw people to You. Do it for me, but do it for the sake of Your name. No other name is like Yours. All heaven and earth rebound with its beauty and power. And so I speak it lightly and reverently with great gratitude and love, overwhelmed by its generosity and my ability to speak it at all.

And because You are so mighty and so strong and so enduring and because You are wise and just and discerning and because You know me so well, have mercy. LORD, I am dust and a child. And I am broken and deceived. Please do not let me run, but let me rejoice in You, with reverent fear and a child-like heart. Do not treat me as I deserve, but renew me and restore me. Thank You for redeeming me.

And show me who You are. Please help me to know all of You, as much as my simple human brain can comprehend. Let me feast on Your word and be in fellowship with Your Spirit. Let Your self be reflected in everyone I meet and in the glory of rain falling from the sky and wind on my face. And may I seek to understand, wanting only to know You more and fall more in love with You. Reveal to me Your character and teach me Your way everlasting.

I pray this in the glorious and famous and awesome name of Jesus. Amen.

That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
