Episode 109: Zechariah 9:12
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to Episode 109 and today’s verse is Zechariah 9:12
Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;
even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.
Let’s pray together.
Oh, Jesus, what sweet promises You have made us. I pray this now for those who have felt like all has been taken from them. For those lost in the darkness and unable to make their way free. For those in the clutches of despair. Let them instead realize they are prisoners of hope and hope will never let them go.
Show us the way, LORD. The way to a fortress of safety, one where we know we are held fast in Your everlasting arms. One where no matter what the enemy throws at us or how crumbled-down the world becomes, we are steadfast, because it was built on Your foundation. I pray we will find security and meaning behind Your walls of truth and love, our loving host Your hope-filled Spirit.
I claim Your promises now, God. Thank You for giving them to us. We know You are trustworthy. And we claim that You are taking care of us and that You have provided for us, and that our future is wonderful. We claim that twice as much as has been lost, will be restored.
We know You wrote these words for a specific time and purpose, but we also know Your Word is for all time and You knew today this verse would be heard by the people who need to hear it. So please restore to us what we have lost and renew our faith in You. Heal the broken, provide for the hungry, give rest to the weary, set the lonely in families, release the captives, and help the mute to sing.
We declare Your goodness and mercy today and we march under the banner of Your love and live in the bastions of Your promises and faithfulness. So today, LORD, deliver us. Let today be the day of salvation. You have already saved us, now set us free. Free to love and free to worship and free to truly live as You created us to live.
Thank You, Almighty God.
I pray this in the trustworthy and bright name of Jesus. Amen.
That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
