Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.

You’re listening to Episode 114 and today’s verse is Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

Let’s pray together.

God, we all need You. I know I do. I’ve known You my whole life, been immersed in Your word with Your people, filled with Your Holy Spirit, but I need You. And I need to know You more. I spend so much time talking about You but very little time talking to You. I’ve read Your word many times, but how much of that is just routine, duty, and skimming over things I think I already know? I profess to love You, but do I give any thought or time to what You want for our relationship?

These thoughts haunt me a little today. Your promises here assure me that people have to deal with this and always have. From the very beginning we are self-obsessed and self-absorbed people. We talk a good talk, but our actions don’t always bear out the truth we speak. That’s comforting to know I’m not alone. And that it’s true we need help to know You better. Apparently we’re not good at doing it on our own.

So today, I echo Paul’s prayer and ask that I have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation and for the purpose of knowing You better. I pray that I may hunger and thirst after You, wanting to understand Your character and to develop a deeper relationship with You. I pray that when I read Your word it is because I want to understand Your story and see the deeper truth of who You are. And I pray I may delight in that journey and process with the full understanding that the entirety of You is something to spend eternity exploring. I shall never know the fullness of You and what a relief. If I could, that would mean You are less than the God You say You are.

I pray that this verse which speaks so clearly of the Triune God, is with me in my heart and mind. I pray that I love and seek after all three of You in One. That I do no neglect adoration of the Father, identification with the Son, or intercession by the Spirit. You are more than able to accomplish this in me. May I be an open heart before You, my spirit willing and longing for You, panting for you like the deer pants for the water.

I pray this for my fellow believers, for the church, for my loved ones. May we all long more for God, for an understanding of Him, that we may become more like Him, and love one another better. Grow and deepen and mature our faith. Help us to hear Your voice and follow Your will, submitting ours to Yours. Help us to be filled with the Spirit, His gifts and His fruit. Align us, body, soul, and spirit to You. And may we help keep each other accountable and encourage each other in our faith. May we love each other and have grace for each other.

Jesus, I want to know You more. Father, I want to know You more. Holy Spirit, I want to know You more.

I pray this in the vast and revelatory name of Jesus. Amen.

That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
