Episode 115: Philippians 2:14-16a
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to Episode 115 and today’s verse is Philippians 2:14-16a
Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.
Let’s pray together.
Oh, LORD, does that ever burn to hear. Do everything without grumbling or arguing. Yeah, I cannot say that’s ever been me. I really like to do both of those things. It can make a disagreeable task so much easier to grumble while doing it and I can get out of so many things I don’t like by arguing. I want to be right and to be treated right, after all.
But that’s not what You said. You said You want me to be blameless and pure, Your child, someone who shows without fault, a witness to the wayward world. Someone who can shine brightly because they follow Your truth.
I’m so grateful You’ve given me a path to follow and instructions on how to live well. Even when I fail, knowing them and knowing I can return to them, makes life so much easier. I have surety that I won’t mess it up forever. So thank You, and please help me to follow Your way, to be someone who lives with a thankful heart and is always eager to serve and to help. I pray You help me close my mouth and focus on my actions instead.
And, LORD, help me to be a witness. Help me to be someone people can come to for help, for encouragement, for anything that will point them toward You. They need You as I do. And I don’t want to do anything that will deter people from You. Help me draw them instead, because I am reflecting Your glory as I hold on to Your word.
And let Your word of life be embedded deep within me, a cleansing fire and a soothing balm to my spirit. May I be its bearer, its wielder, its keeper, its knower, its champion. Let there be truth in our times. So often truth is not given its due diligence or it is wielded as a weapon to harm or it is twisted so that it looks like deception. But this is not Your way. So let Your word be honored and respected and made known. Help me to do so.
And may You draw the prodigals home and release the captives from bondage. Let all those who believe the lie that You are not God and Savior be freed from that foul untruth. Jesus, be our deliverer and the one who sets us apart, in unity and peace and kindness, and may all who look upon us be able to say that we have been with You.
Oh, help me to be cheerful and meek, dear LORD.
I pray this in the shining and awesome name of Jesus. Amen.
That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
And let’s get to know each other better.
