Episode 116: Colossians 1:9-12
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to Episode 116 and today’s verse is Colossians 1:9-12
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified yo uto share in the inheritance of His holy people in the kingdom of light.
Let’s pray together.
God, today I pray for all Your believers. May they have these words, the fruit of them, and may they grow in knowledge and representation of You. Strengthen and persevere them, dear Jesus.
God, I pray to know Your will. I need that wisdom and understanding from the Spirit. My life has too many options, too many directions, and I want to honor You no matter what. Perhaps there are many roads or perhaps there is just one really important thing You want from me. But I know You will always guide me and always lead me home. Still, I pray that I can hear Your voice and that I follow You and not my own selfish desires or confusing thoughts. It is always best to be Yours.
I want to live my life for You, growing in You, showing maturity and depth, so that You are proud of me and that You are pleased with me. I want to know that the things I do and the words I say are ones that bring honor to You. And that this helps me live a life that bears out the truth of Your word, that keeps me going ever more toward You and toward a relationship with You that is meaningful and joyful. Let me be the person who does good toward those around me and that does not live selfishly but with a desire to give and a desire to know You more.
I know this will strengthen me and grow me and help me both endure and enjoy this life. There are many trials, many obstacles, but when I live for You and with You, then I can persevere and I can keep going no matter what hardships I face. I will have the energy and wisdom to navigate them. And I will have patience for both myself and those around me. This will enable me to live with gratitude and a thankful heart, even when I am suffering, even when I am attacked. Because I know that counting my blessings seems like a trite thing to do, but it actually builds up a defense against the attacks of the enemy and brings joy into my heart.
I do all this for You, Father, please help me. I am so grateful You have adopted me as Your own and You count me as one of Your children. You have enabled me to be washed free of my sin and actually granted me a place among Your people, a place in Your kingdom, a share of Your glory, and the love of Your heart. Oh what magnificent gifts that I do not deserve. Thank You for them. Help me to show my gratitude in all these things I pray today.
I pray this in the magnanimous and helping name of Jesus. Amen.
That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
