Episode 118: 2 Timothy 2:11-13
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to Episode 118 and today’s verse is 2 Timothy 2:11-13
Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with Him,
we will also live with Him;
if we endure,
we will also reign with Him.
If we disown Him,
He will also disown us;
if we are faithless,
He remains faithful,
for He cannot disown Himself.
Let’s pray together.
God, my heart is meditating on these verses today, attempting understanding, attempting to realize why it is a trustworthy saying, figuring out the deep meaning and message Paul was giving and why this was pertinent then and why it’s pertinent now. I confess I don’t think I’ll ever truly understand, but I thank You for the hope these verses bring me.
I am glad that I have died with You, Jesus. It means that I get a clean slate. Everything that was old and ugly and wrong has been washed away and I can no longer be declared guilty of what haunted me so in my past.
But I am glad to live with You, God. Because it means I have new opportunities and new growth and fullness of life that I never could enjoy before. I get to know You and live in relationship with You. I get to change and become the version of myself I never dreamed I could be, doing Your work and flourishing in Your kingdom. What a privilege and an opportunity.
I am grateful that You have promised us peace and security after the terrors of this world. I am Yours and You are mine. I am a part of Your plan and a part of eternity. I can survive anything because You have given me the strength and You have shown me my worth and You have given me the power and authority of Your Son. And I get to be with You forever, at Your side. It definitely puts perspective on the day-to-day happenings and my tendency to live in monotony and defiance.
Because, Jesus I don’t want to disown You. I don’t want to let You down. I don’t want to walk away. I don’t want to lose my new freedom or forget my new peace. Please don’t let me. You are faithful and You keep me hidden in the shelter of Your arms. But the truth is, if I decided to walk away, in love, You wouldn’t stop me. You will never force me to accept truth and if I declare my will is not Yours, I am the defiant and disowning one. I am unfaithful. And I damn myself.
But You will never give up on me. And I am so grateful for that. You have called me Your own and made me a part of Your body. Thus, You will not disown me. You will not abandon me. You will hold me close and use me and shape me and protect me. And I do so much that You should disown me for, but You do not. You are the constant and faithful one. I long to be more like You. And forgive me for any time I try to walk away or act like You don’t matter.
I pray this in the faithful and enduring name of Jesus. Amen.
That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
