Episode 119: Titus 2:11-13
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to Episode 119 and today’s verse is Titus 2:11-13
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray together.
God, thank You for Your grace. Thank You that You offer it so freely. Thank You that we don’t have to do anything to gain it. Thank You that it saves us. Thank You that it is given to all.
I know that I so often give in to the desires of my flesh and the pressures of the world around me. I desire to be god of my own life. I think I know how to rule it and make it better. Too often I fail and I see how that isn’t so. And I am crushed, seemingly broken beyond repair, doomed to a self-repeating cycle of apostasy that goes round and round until I am sick.
But Your grace changes all that. I am enabled to say no to the things that are wrong for me. And now I not only know what they are, but I am excited to be rid of them. I didn’t think it was truly possible, but Your grace makes all things possible. I am giddy with the thought of how my life can be devoted to You and You alone.
For You made all things and You know how they work. You know truth and You know the future and You know what is best. Why do I and we as a people always think that’s not true? It’s laughable to think we could know more than the omniscient Creator of the universe. We are nothing compared to You. And we need to submit to Your way, forsaking all others. Help me to do so.
Help me to say no and to be self-controlled, with a light in my life and love on my lips, never with even the appearance of evil. Because I reflect You and I honor You and I submit to Your way and I stay away from the things that are harmful to me.
Because my hope is not found in this world. It is not in what I can accomplish or know. It is only in You. We await You, LORD, in breathless anticipation and wonder, longing for You and desiring You, like parted lovers and separated families and a matchless Lover of our souls who did the impossible just to be with us. Now come again, Jesus. Come again in glory and fill my life with Your beauty. I await You. Help me to do so with honor and in kindness and discipline.
I love You, LORD.
I pray this in the empowering and glorious name of Jesus. Amen.
Wow, another end to another season. I hope you enjoyed this time as much as I did. We hit the huge milestone of 100 episodes this season and I can hardly believe it. I am grateful for each and every one of you who listen to and share in these prayers.
I am going to go on hiatus again between seasons. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know when I’m back, but make sure to subscribe to the podcast so you don’t miss anything. I would love it if you could leave a rating and a review for it as well. This is the best way to spread the word about the podcast and have people join us in our prayers. Thank you so much for those who have already left a review or who have shared the podcast with your friends. That means the world to me.
If you’d like to stay in touch while the hiatus is happening, please follow me over on Instagram at thejulihernandez. I’d love any feedback or questions you have about the podcast and it will really help me shape next season for y’all.
The other place I’d love to see you is on my website, www.thejulihernandez.com. This site holds a transcription of each prayer so you can pray them whenever you like, but it’s also where I post my monthly blog posts which detail fun stories about fiction and my writing process and behind the scenes information on my next book. Head on over and check it out today!
Until we meet again. Shalom.
