Episode 122 7x3 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
Listen here
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then pray it over our lives. Please join me in the prayer. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s begin our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.
You’re listening to episode 122 and today’s verse is 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of His call. May He give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with Him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Let’s pray together.
Father, I come before You today and ask that You answer Paul’s prayer for the Thessalonians today. Answer it for our lives. What was true for them, is true for us. Yes, our circumstances are different, but we still live in a world that persecutes us for our faith and where we have questions about the future and where we don’t always do the work that You’ve called for us to do. So we need this prayer and I bring it before Your throne today.
Help us to live our lives. We want to be worthy of You. We want to know that we’re doing the things You’ve called us to do. We want to have faith that encourages us, lifts us up, and is strong enough to last through any doubt. We need Your power to accomplish this, to be obedient to Your commands, and to be Your hands and feet to this world, to all those around us. Oh, may it be so. May we live under Your ability, not trying to live under our own. We know that these things only happen through You.
We want to honor You and we want Your name to be lifted high. Please help us to live our lives that showcase Your glory, that proclaim Your might to all those around us. May nothing keep us from the knowledge of You, and the imitation of You. We need to be sanctified into Your image, so that when people look at us, they see You. We want our honor to come only from You. May people love us because they see You in us.
And we know, God, that all of this is possible only through Your grace, only through the sacrifice of Jesus. He gave everything up for us, endured more persecution than any of us could ever imagine, and He rose again, victorious. He will return with justice and we will have rest. We can hope now, in the midst of trials, in the midst of questions, and in the midst of idleness. Help us not to be selfish, not to be ignorant, not to be lazy, not to be prideful. We are so easily all of those things. But Your power can strip us of all that is evil, and fill us with the good.
God, be in our churches today, in our leaders, in our families, in our lives. May each of us reach to You and show Your love more and more to those around us. May we be strong in faith, healed and renewed in this most important area of our lives. We are called to be in relationship with You and to live for Your glory. May we take every opportunity to do so, no matter what others may think of us or what we’re desiring for ourselves. You are all. You are the way. Show us.
I pray this in the grace-filled name of Jesus. Amen.
That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.
I also want to get to know each other better. Follow me over on Instagram where I’ve recently updated my handle to reflect my married name.
