Episode 79: Psalm 38:6-10

Today’s verse is Psalm 38:6-10
I am bowed down and brought very low;
all day long I go about mourning.
My back is filled with searing pain;
there is no health in my body.
I am feeble and utterly crushed;
I groan in anguish of heart.
All my longings lie open before You, Lord;
my sighing is not hidden from You.
My heart pounds, my strength fails me;
even the light has gone from my eyes.
Let’s pray together.
Our prayer today is for those who are low, those depressed, those in grief, those in pain, those ostracized, those victimized, those deceived, those in great need. Our world is fragmented into hopelessness. Oh, Jesus, hear our prayer.
We pray for the sad and the brokenhearted. We pray for those in loss and deprived of their loved ones. We pray for the lonely and the abandoned. Whatever emotions swirl and gasp in their lungs, God, be their comfort. Be their friend. Be all that they need. Remind them of their worth in You. Show them they are never alone. Bring just the right aid to them at just the right moment. God, be merciful to our feelings. They are human and broken, but they are part of us and given to us by You. So help us to deal with all they mean. Mend our brokenness and show us what it is to be whole and to be focused on You, the only true lover of our souls. Help us to trust in You fully and completely, submitting our feelings to You. Be our Jehovah Jireh.
We pray for the pained and the suffering. We pray for those injured and for those with illness and disease. Jesus, bring relief and healing. We ask that You be in each body and fill it with Your Holy Spirit. Use whatever means You deem good, LORD. Use doctors and medicine, use tools and knowledge, use Your supernatural will. We ask for Your intervention for the agony suffered in our bodies. We pray to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless, provide for the destitute. Fix our broken cars and houses and show us that our physical bodies and their needs are well within Your ability to bless us. We ask You to provide jobs and resources and education and anything else we need. Touch our minds and our wills, heal them and restore them and let them be strong and bright and full of Your Spirit. Help us to be shaped into your hands. Help us to be led by You and You alone. Help us submit our decisions to You alone. Be our Jehovah Rapha.
We pray for the deceived and the lost. We pray for the abused and the scared. We pray for all those who have no knowledge of You. For those who have abandoned You. For those who think they know You and they do not. For those who are determined to believe in and gratify anything else other than You. Jesus, we need You, for we are sinners and we are Your creation. We are all spiritual beings and only You can satisfy us. Fill our longings, LORD. Whatever we use to try and fill the emptiness within us, help us to see that it will never work. You are all. Help us to see that. Help us to run after You with passion in our hearts and fire in our eyes. Let You be our goal. Let You be our satisfaction. I pray that You break chains of fear and bondage and deception and reveal Truth. Reveal You. Draw people back to You. Bring the prodigals home. Relieve the suffering of those who pray for them. Help us all to be loosed from whatever temptation or lie or wound is holding us back from a full relationship with You. Help us to depend on You and You alone and submit our wills to Yours. You are our everything; help us to know that deeply. Be our Jehovah Nissi.
We pray this today in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
