Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, the creator and host of the podcast, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. Our goal is to take a few moments and dive deep into God’s word before meditating on it ourselves. I’ll read a scripture from the Bible, and then we’ll pray it together over our lives. Invite a friend to listen in and let’s start our day with God’s peace. I am so excited to get started; thank you for joining me today.

My friends, we are entering Season Six of Peace Prayers. I can hardly believe it. I’m excited for what we’re going to have this time around, including our 100th episode!

It’s been a little while since we’ve prayed together and I’ve missed you all. It’s been an amazing couple of months as I got married to my now husband, Joe, and we settled into a new rhythm of being married people. But I’m ready to get back to interacting with you and hope you are as well.

Our format is pretty much the same, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday. But we are going to spend some extended time in the Minor Prophets at the beginning of the season and then dive into Paul’s epistles at the end. So, settle back, close your eyes, breath in deep, and let’s share in God’s peace together.

You’re listening to Episode 98 and today’s verse is Hosea 11:10

They will follow the Lord;
    He will roar like a lion.
When He roars,
    His children will come trembling from the west.

Let’s pray together.

Jesus, You are the Lion of Judah. We are Your children, grafted into Your family by Your sacrifice. You are the Lion that protects His family. You are fierce and wild and all who hear Your mighty roar tremble. None can withstand You. Our great Protector, our mighty Redeemer. You are all we need.

Help us to follow You, LORD. We don’t always. We can be so in tune with our own needs, so desirous of protecting ourselves or doing what looks good to us. But You are the One who created us and formed us. You have plans for us. Our wisdom is nothing compared to Yours. We cannot see, but You know every path. Help us to walk down the paths, led by the sound of Your roar, rejuvenated and strengthened by its deep resonance.

Jesus, help us to repent. Help us to repent of all we have done wrong. Of the loves we have courted instead of You. Of the idols we have built in Your sanctuary. Of the self-protection and control we worship instead of You. Of the walls we have constructed around us to keep You out. We are wrong, but we do seek forgiveness. We seek to follow You instead, the deep Lover of our souls. And we know that You are good.

Release us from captivity. And buy us back from the bondage we sold ourselves into. When we deceive ourselves and have to pay the consequences of our decisions, receive us back. And don’t ever give up on us. We have such need of You. Thank You for never leaving us even when we leave You. Thank You for giving everything for us when we didn’t deserve it. And I pray that this is most important to us. That we never forget the ransom You paid. And that we never attempt to run away back to the filth of a life that would never compare to the glory of being Yours.

We pray this in the good and bone-shattering name of Jesus. Amen.

That is the end of our collective prayer, but don’t forget that you can keep praying and meditating on this on your own. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you have a peaceful rest of your day. I’d love to ask you a favor before we go and that is to please subscribe and leave a review for the podcast if you haven’t already. That is the best way to invite other people to join us in our prayers and it helps me more than you can know.

And let’s get to know each other better. Follow me over on Instagram at thejulihernandez where you can DM me prayer requests or suggestions on verses you’d like me to pray on the podcast or just let me know what’s going on in your life. Another way to get in touch with what I’m up to is on my website at www.thejulihernandez.com. My website hosts a transcription of each prayer so that you can pray them whenever you like. You’ll also see monthly blog posts that detail my next writing project and I can’t wait to engage with you on that as well. Let’s connect, but for now, Shalom.
