Episode 13: John 16:33
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. What I'd like to do is read a Scripture from the Bible about peace, and then pray it together over our lives. That way we can have a few minutes to start our day with God's peace. I'm so excited to get started with you. Thank you for joining me today.
Today's verse is John 16:33.
These things I have spoken to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.
Let's pray together.
Father, I am so grateful that You overcame the world. The world cows me most of the time. There is so much complexity, so much tribulation, so much division. It's very hard to deal with. And I definitely couldn't do it on my own, but with You, it's okay. With You, it's going to work out.
And, God, it kind of blows me away that this is one of the last things that You said to Your disciples before Your arrest, trial, crucifixion, while You were about to undergo the most horrific thing that anyone can undergo. You were speaking words of peace to Your disciples. You are equipping them. You are encouraging them. You are reminding them that You will always be there for them. Thank You.
So today be there with us as we walk through the trials of our day and help us to remember that You are in charge. It doesn't matter what evil comes our way. You are more powerful than that. And because of You, we are more powerful than that. You have equipped us to face any situation. It doesn't mean it won't be hard. You faced the hardest one of all, but You did that for us so that we can face hard things as well, so that we can be saved from them.
So, Jesus, I wanna remember that because it's really easy to forget. We're bound by our emotions. We're bound by present fears. We're bound by time itself, and we can have a really hard time seeing through all of that to the eternal truths. You left them for us. You give them to us daily, but we so often throw them aside. I so often throw them aside or ignore them.
But Jesus, I want to take this day and just be of good cheer. I can have deep joy even through trials. LORD, whoever is listening to this and is going through a trial, bless them with that deep joy. Let them truly feel it to the depth of their being, and that joy brings the comfort and brings the peace that comes only from You. You bring a restorative to our life when we are faint.
And, God, we sometimes have to wait for the answer to our questions. I pray You would give us endurance while we wait because You're never not going to answer us. Your answer may be on the way. And while it's on the way, we can have that peace because that's the gift that You have promised us. And just as You are patient, God, so patient with us as children who just unable to grasp simple concepts because we're still children and still learning and still growing, but You never lose patience with us. You never give up on us. You never make a mistake with us. Our earthly parents make or made mistakes. We as earthly parents make or made mistakes, but You never do. It's so nice to know that You never do.
So, Father, help us to follow Your example as much as possible, both in endurance through trial and comfort and cheer through trial and patience with others and patience in waiting for an answer. Appreciate so much Your words of comfort. Let us have this comfort today.
And I pray that for you listening. I pray comfort for You today. I pray deep joy. I pray endurance, patience. Above all, I always pray peace for you.
Thank You, Jesus.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
