Episode Nine: Judges 6:23-24a
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. What I'd like to do is read a Scripture from the Bible about peace, and then pray it together over our lives. That way we can have a few minutes to start our day with God's peace. I'm so excited to get started with you. Thank you for joining me today.
Today's verse is Judges 6:23-24a. But the LORD said to him, peace to you. Don't be afraid, for you will not die. So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it the LORD is Peace.
Let's pray together.
Jesus, I thank You that You give us opportunities to document Your peace. Let's talk about it. Let's make it known to everyone, not hide it. You're our peace, so let's share it. Worship You in it.
And we know that when we're afraid, You offer us peace, and we can take it. We can take it and use it always. God, I pray we would be practical with our peace today, that we would find moments to share it with other people, talking about it, writing it down, using it in our words and our actions to others, using it to conquer our fear. Gideon was so afraid, both because of other people and because of his interactions with You.
And there's a holy fear when we talk to You, but it's not the normal fear that we feel that is wrong and that is evil. It's a respect and it's a reverence, but we do feel that other kind of fear, God. I know that You give us Your peace to conquer it. And then when You do, You want us to celebrate it. So today, let's have a celebration, a celebration of how God's peace has worked in our lives and how it works for us.
Today, I have peace because You've given me accomplishment. Today, I have peace because You've given me space. That might not be the case for you today, but God still has a place for His peace in your life. So I pray that you would look for it, look for it with intention, and then be very deliberate in how you notice it and how you thank Him for it. Whatever you're facing today, God has peace for you. Jesus revealed that to us.
Don't let it hide from us. Don't let us hide from it. We praise You, God, today because You are a God of peace, that You are peace, and that no matter what situation we face, we have You. Jesus, protect us today. Remind us who You are today. Help us listen for You today. No matter where we are or who we're with or what we're doing. You are the God of peace. So let us build an altar in our hearts for You. It'll be a permanent reminder to us that You are peace and that You have conquered our fear.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
