Episode Seven: Micah 4:4-5a
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. What I'd like to do is read a scripture from the Bible about peace, and then pray it together over our lives. That way we can have a few minutes to start our day with God's peace. I'm so excited to get started with you. Thank you for joining me today.
Today's verse is Micah 4:4-5a.
And He shall stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD, His God, and they shall dwell secure. For now He shall be great to the ends of the earth, and He shall be their peace.
I love this verse because it is talking about Jesus, but it's talking about Him before he was born. This is a verse about the coming Messiah and what He will do for the people Israel. And they're actually living in a really hard time, But the promise of him is their peace.
Let's pray together.
Jesus, I am so grateful that You came and that You were promised even before You came. We live through some really hard times, and those hard times can sometimes drain our hope. We feel like it's impossible to go on. We feel like there's no solution, and we wanna give up. We just wanna say it's not worth it, and let's just do whatever we want. Because who cares? But You care, God.
Oh, You cared so much that so many years before the promise was fulfilled, You gave it to give people hope, to give them something to hold on to. That even when You weren't actively talking to them in a way that they could understand, they still had this promise to hold on to and this hope.
And, Father, You do that for us too. There are so many times when it feels like I just can't hear Your voice. I don't know what's gonna happen, and everything around me seems to be crashing down. But I have this hope too. And what's more, I have an even greater hope because I saw that hope fulfilled. The promise of peace was fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ.
Oh, LORD, let us hold on to that promise. Let us dig deep into it. There's so much there. God, I pray that when we feel down, when we feel lost, when we feel alone, and when we feel there is no hope, that we will remember these words. We remember that You are our shepherd. You are a shepherd who will never leave His flock and who gave His life for them.
And now we get to dwell secure. No matter what happens around us, nothing can make us fail because You already paid the price. We know the end. We know there is victory. We know how strong You are. We know how amazing You are, and yet there's still so much for us to learn.
Let us learn rather than give up hope. Let us fight rather than stand idly by, and let us give ourselves over to Your peace. We don't have to create it ourselves. It's there because of You, because of who You are, because of what You've done. So I thank You, Father, for that. I need that today. We all need that today. Be our peace. Be our peace. Be our peace. We love You, Jesus.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
