Episode 21: Romans 5:1-2
Dear friends, welcome to Peace Prayers. My name is Juli, and I would love to be able to spend some time with you today. What I'd like to do is read a Scripture from the Bible about peace, and then pray it together over our lives. That way we can have a few minutes to start our day with God's peace. I'm so excited to get started with you. Thank you for joining me today.
Today's verse is Romans 5:1-2.
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our LORD Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand, and we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Let's pray together.
Jesus, I thank You so much that You came to sacrifice Your life for us. Without it, we literally have nothing. Your choice to be here with us, and to be sin for us, means that we can have faith. And because we have faith, we have peace. Peace is who You are, and we wouldn't have access to You otherwise. Our sin keeps us from a relationship with You, but You decided You didn't want that. You wanted a relationship with us, So You did the unthinkable. So grateful for that. And we are able to boast about it. I don't know why we don't stand outside our doors every single day and just shout to the four winds that we're saved.
Jesus is here. He's real. He's glorious. We have hope now. We don't have to walk through this broken world by ourselves, trying to make it on our own. There is such a trend today to believe in the indomitable spirit of humanity and finding strength deep within yourself, and overcoming obstacles, and doing anything. And I'm not saying that those things aren't wonderful, but, God, they're not possible without You.
That is a really important point that we often forget, that none of those things are possible without You, because You created us in the first place, and You save us from brokenness into glory now. God, let us revel in that, but let us never forget it. Let us give the due credit to You because You are Savior, You are Creator, You are LORD, You are Healer and Redeemer, and You are the Personification of peace. We literally cannot have it without You.
Every part of who we are has to align with who You are, or we will not have true peace. It only comes through following Your example and laying down our pride and our shame at Your feet. Thank You that You take it, LORD. You don't reject our offering, but You gladly receive it and You reward us with Your presence, with getting to be with You.
LORD, I want to be Your friend. I wanna spend time with You. Sometimes I don't feel like that. It's very easy to get caught up in all the hurries and bustle of my life, of the other people around me, of the needs of the people around me, with the practicalities of life. But, Jesus, help us set aside time today to say, LORD, what do You want to tell me today? How can I serve You today? In what way will You help me today because I can't do it on my own?
Think about that today. Stop and take the time. Realize the immense gift that we have of being able to enter into His presence because that was not always the case. He graciously gives us access. And find a way to share that today. How can you spread that to someone else? How can you show a peace of who He is to someone else and share your peace with them? The peace that comes from Him directly.
LORD Jesus, we give You praise today. We honor Your sacrifice. We remember it, and we are grateful, and we are so joyful. Thank You.
In Your name, I pray. Amen.
