Picture of Yes, Father

"My dad with Alzheimer's. My dad who already never remembered my birthday and barely ever bothered to spend time with me. My dad who I didn't particularly want to spend time with . . . and now was suddenly expected to care for?"

Yes, Father: A Daughter's Journey to Forgiveness is the hopeful story of one woman's journey into caring for her father with Alzheimer's while learning to forgive him for his past.

When J.A. Sellers agreed to care for her father, the decision wasn't easy. She had to reconcile years of abuse with the growing need to help him as his memory diminished. After a lifetime of hurt, she searches for the forgiveness that will heal their relationship before it's too late.

If you've longed to restore a broken family relationship or have cared for a parent with Alzheimer's, you'll relate to the struggle of hanging on to hope in the midst of difficult circumstances.

In this memoir of faith and forgiveness, you'll discover how:

God is able to bring opportunities for forgiveness through broken circumstances.

Our Father demonstrates His love as we learn to heal from past scars.

Relationships can be restored even through the most painful times.

God can renew our families and reforge them into something powerful.

If you find yourself in the midst of wrestling with forgiveness, then Yes, Father: A Daughter's Journey to Forgiveness offers a hopeful path toward reconciliation and healing.

Welcome to the page all about books!

I love writing. I always have. As a child, I would write stories and longed to be a writer when I grew up. I soon realized most of the things that I wrote were shadows of books I had read. I thought that meant I had no original ideas and so I just continued writing my fun little stories for myself, believing I wasn't creative enough for anything else.

But all that changed when I wrote my first book, a memoir. True, I didn't have to do anything but stick to the facts for that one, but it helped reawaken my love of telling stories. I discovered I had original fiction ideas I wanted to tell, stories that promoted the same sense of hope and truth that non-fiction told, but allowed for the distance of fiction to protect the reader. So please take a look at my memoir and check back here for the fiction offerings to come!

Historical Fiction

So many members of my family have fantastic stories. I just had to share them in fictionalized form!

Spiritual Allegory

Like the greats, I love the idea of taking spiritual truths and re-telling them for a new generation.

And other ideas still to come

Don't worry, I've got more. But I don't want to give too much away!

TESTIMONIALS

What others are saying

I read this moving memoir about her father's care from onset of dementia through his passing. Juli's honest grappling with how to love her father well encourages us to turn to the God who sees, hears and understands. I love the cover art, gold-filled cracks as pictures of Juli's heart fissures filled by obedience and love.

Well done, Juli! -Sarah

This is the type of book I usually shy away from, but she wrote it so well that while the significance of that season remains, heaviness does not sit on the reader. The balance between the journey and her memories is wonderful. The light and love of God shine through, and I know this book will help and inspire countless others who find themselves in similar situations. You will not regret picking up this book. In fact, you will find yourself strengthened, inspired, and blessed by what's contained in the pages.

Juli takes us into such raw places with grace and skill to the destination of release and forgiveness. Her story never feels candy-coated while she also respects all the people involved. I enjoyed the format of alternating childhood and adulthood, past and more present. Well done telling such a vulnerable story. I was deeply moved.
